As a result of my new job, I’m moving a bit north in the general vicinity of Hershey . It turns out there is a Gulf station in the area . I think I’ll be stopping here on occasion.
Also, I spotted a purple Plymouth Prowler and a first gen Escort in my travels today. I’m not sure which one is more rare at this point.

Tough call. I saw a Prowler a while back and was truly shocked.
Your gas is pretty pricey.

Twenty to thirty cents per gallon more than near me.

60 cents more than near me. Still stupid cheap no matter how you price it.

At this point all the first generation Escorts are survivors, while the Prowlers are basically all garage queens.
PA has one of the highest gas taxes in the country, so its very rare that we see rock bottom prices (and everywhere else is usually lower in those times, too) .

Ah!
And yes, it’s funny to think of a Prowler as a garage queen, but that makes sense.

There are lots of Gulf stations in Maine, but two local staions have closed in the past year.
Should be plenty in PA too.

That was thanks to Governor Corbett, to fund infrastructure work, allegedly. So, next time you drive through Pennsylvania, admiring their glass smooth roads and immaculate bridges, thank the high gas prices for that.

I’ve been going to a Gulf station recently as the spread between them and my preferred Shell station got too much to justify. We have lots of them around here, and they are usually pretty good value.

We’re overrun with super convenience stores in PA (at least the areas I’ve lived). Wawa, Sheetz, Rutters, and Turkey Hill to some extent - most areas will have at least two. It’s kinda a novelty to get gas at a branded gas station. They are around , but it is often either a matter of inconvenience or overall condition - there is a Sunoco up the road from where I was living before, but it was rundown enough that I tended to not trust it.

They are around, but they are a bit scattered, at least in central PA.

The Escort is way more rare. The Prowlers are all locked in garages of fools who think they're going to shoot up in value.

My grandfather’s new Escort is barely visible in the background of this pic of my sister and me, c.1985
